  Meet The National Library of Wales’ first Artist in Residence

date: November 15, 2006

An installation piece has been placed by the resident artist amongst the wooden tables of the North Reading Room of The National Library of Wales. During the lunchtime talk the artist will discuss what provided the stimulus for her work and show a film inspired by her residency at the Library.

  Opening event at Canolfan Padarn in Aberystwyth

An Artist in Residency project has taken place over the summer at Canolfan Padarn in Aberystwyth and will culminate with a special event on Friday 6 October at 2pm at Canolfan Padarn to unveil the artwork that has been created.

  RAWLEY CLAY, "CAWELL"

This year, the artist Rawley Clay has built a fantastic giant 'bird cage', Cawell, in which the artist himself will spend some time. He has also worked in collaboration with poet, activist and writer, Catrin Dafydd (funded by Academi) on a performative piece.

  Mumbles Train: An exaggerated anthology by Matt Cook

Performed on the original trajectory of the Swansea to Mumbles railway, the first passenger rail service in the World, Matt Cook presents a series of spurious stories, Historical events that happened, or could have happened, during the 153 year life of the Mumbles Train.

  Unveiling of colourful cultural pathway in Caernarfon

An unique new mosaic will be unveiled on Doc Fictoria in Caernarfon this Sunday, 19th February. The artworks have been created by children from 12 local schools, with mosaic artists Maureen O’Kane and Andrew Bolton of Cardiff, to raise awareness of the 10 countries that have recently joined the European Union. Jillian Evans, MEP will unveil the mosaics at mid day on Sunday 19th February.

  New Chair for Cywaith Cymru

Hugh Adams has stood down as Chair of Cywaith Cymru after more than 6 years as a trustee. Gareth Davies, architect with Stride Treglown Davies, has been elected our new Chair. As always, our prime focus is on our current and future collaborations with clients, arts organisations and artists and our commitment to Welsh culture, languages and communities throughout Wales.
