Cardiff based glass artist Jane Beebe was commissioned to create and original work for the debating chamber of the Welsh Assembly. This was presented as a gift from the prople of Wales to the Assebly at the opening ceremony in May 1999.
The work made out of lead crystal with a central steel collar inlid with a coal 'gemstone' set in gold and sits on steel rods set into a dark grey Welsh slate plinth. The materials used draw on Wales's industrial past and re-create them in a contemporary form. |
