St Non's Stones
artist(s):
Richard Harris
location St David's [south west Wales]
completed March 2000
  Commissioned by the Pembrokeshire National Coastal Park Authority for the garden of their Visitor Centre at St David's. The new centre opened on March 1st 1999 and attracts thousands of visitors annually. The Centre itself was awarded a Gold Medal for Architecture at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. The sculpture, unveiled on the centre's first birthday on St David's Day 2000 is by Powys based artist, Richard Harris. The design was inspired by the story of st Non, its stone circle protectively surrounding the ruined chapel like the storm that protected Non while she gave birth to her son - St David.
